- More than half of the respondents plan vacation after mid-August to avoid the peak season
- Continuing contactless travel trend
Daily Hotel, South Korea's premium leisure booking platform and an affiliate of Yanolja, announced this year's summer vacation trend. According to the survey of 1,840 Daily Hotel customers, 73.8% of the respondents said that they have not taken a vacation yet, and 57.4% said they plan to travel after mid-August. It indicates the trend of delaying summer holidays to avoid peak season.
34.5% answered that they plan their vacation 2-3 weeks in advance, and 2-7 days before (33.8%) ranked second. This phenomenon seems to be affected by the increase in domestic travel while overseas travel is restricted due to COVID-19.
58.9% of respondents consider accommodations the most when planning vacation. As for accommodation, it was found that they preferred private spaces for safe travel, such as hotels (67.9%), private resorts (13.8%), and pool villas (12.4%). On the other hand, more than 40% of respondents answered that they would not enjoy leisure activities, suggesting that the trend of contactless travel will continue.
