Emphasizing emotional connectivity in travel and its role as a “hyper-connector”
Global travel tech company Yanolja (CEO Sujin Lee) celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting the 'Re:Imagine What is Possible' event, reaffirming its commitment to transforming the global travel industry through artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven technologies. Held at Ten-X Tower in Pangyo, the hybrid event gathered over 4,000 participants, including domestic and international employees as well as key partners from the travel industry.
During the event, CEO Sujin Lee unveiled Yanolja's vision to turn dream trips into reality for everyone, pledging to revolutionize the travel and leisure sector by integrating AI and data technologies. Building on two decades of growth, Lee emphasized the company's goal of becoming the world's leading travel tech firm in the next decade, driving continuous innovation with its team.
Founded in 2005 as an online accommodation community, Yanolja launched Korea's first mobile lodging app in 2011, spearheading digital transformation in the industry. The company introduced pioneering services such as instant booking and emerged as Korea's top accommodation platform. In 2015, Yanolja announced its “Restart” strategy, evolving into a travel super app encompassing hotels, overseas lodging, leisure, transport, and aviation. In 2023, the company launched a new entity, NOL UNIVERSE, through the merger of its platform business with InterparkTriple, aiming to become a one-of-a-kind platform integrating travel, leisure, and cultural data.
Not content with domestic success, Yanolja has steadily expanded its global enterprise solution business. In 2019, it acquired global hotel solution provider eZee Technosys, developing cloud-based subscription solutions to support digital transformation for travel operators worldwide. In 2023, the company welcomed Go Global Travel as a new affiliate, accelerating the construction of a global data infrastructure spanning 206 countries and focusing on connecting fragmented travel data across the globe.
Aligned with the advancing AI era, Yanolja is setting new standards in travel by leveraging proprietary data and AI technologies. It plans to offer generative AI services customized for travelers and AI agent solutions for travel operators, automating operations and maximizing efficiency and profitability. These innovations aim to deliver smarter, safer, and more personalized travel experiences, establishing Yanolja as a global leader in travel tech.
As part of its future vision, Yanolja also unveiled its new brand identity. The signature color, Yanolja Orange, symbolizes warmth and happiness, akin to a sunset viewed while traveling—highlighting the company's philosophy of delivering emotional resonance beyond technology. The newly introduced symbol illustrates global travel touchpoints, visually representing Yanolja's identity as a Hyper-connector linking the worldwide travel market. Under this master brand, all global affiliates using the Yanolja brand will be unified to strengthen global competitiveness.
Sujin Lee concluded by stating that as technologies such as AI, humanoid robots, and autonomous vehicles evolve, leading the automation of offline operations and platforms will become essential. By redefining the travel industry through proprietary travel data and AI, Yanolja aims to realize dream journeys for all—making travel simpler and more delightful for travelers and business operators alike.
The event also featured congratulatory messages celebrating Yanolja's 20-year journey. Notable figures such as Woo Kee-hong, Vice Chairman and CEO of Korean Air, global pop star PSY, Goh Chin Kiong, CIO of Singapore Investment Corporation, and Adena Friedman, CEO of Nasdaq, extended their warm wishes. Nasdaq even broadcast a congratulatory message on its Times Square billboard in New York City, drawing attention with live footage from the event.
